If your pet is hospitalized with us, we want to assure you that your pet will receive lots of love and tender care from our team of highly skilled, deeply compassionate technicians and veterinarians who closely monitor all our in-house patients around the clock. Our pledge is to utilize the exceptional skills of our doctors, combined with the most advanced diagnostic tools, treatments, and surgical methods, to ensure that each and every pet we help will receive extraordinary care.

Estimates and Admission

If your pet requires hospitalization, you will be provided with an approximate estimate for diagnostics and services. We require a 75% deposit on high end of the provided estimate, and you will also be asked to sign consent forms authorizing your pet’s care with us.

If your pet is taking medications, please leave them with us or return with them as soon as possible. We can only take medications in the original pill bottles that are clearly labeled.

Please let us know if your pet has any special dietary needs. We can provide some special diets, but you’re welcome to bring your pet’s diet.

Getting Updated

Open and clear communication between you and our hospital staff is very important. Our staff will update you on the progress of your pet and you are always welcome to call for a quick update or if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor will give you a “best time” to call and check in for updates or questions. If you call at other times, the medical team may be busy with other patients and may only be able to give you limited information; or you may have to leave a message. Calls are returned at the earliest opportunity.

Please be assured that if there are any significant changes in your pet’s condition, we will call you as soon as possible.

Visitation and Discharge

We try to accommodate your wishes to visit your pet as much as possible, during days and nights. Occasionally, visits may not be possible or may be limited in time when we are treating a pet emergency.

Discharge appointments should be scheduled with your VSH specialist or technician. When you arrive to pick up your pet, your doctor or technician will give you a complete report, answer your questions and provide you with at-home recovery and continued care instructions.

Life Saving Measures

The VSH team of specialists, veterinarians and technicians care deeply about the health and well-being of your pet. Yet sometimes, despite our best efforts, serious injuries or illnesses are not always treatable or the stability of your pet’s condition can worsen while in treatment or surgery.

It is important for you and your family to take time to consider whether you will want our team to take life saving measures. Unless directed otherwise, the VSH medical staff will attempt to resuscitate your pet. These steps can be expensive, and the results cannot be guaranteed.

Please let us know your wishes: whether or not you desire resuscitation if your pet’s heartbeat or breathing should stop.

You Make The Difference

We know that your pet is not “just a pet” to you, nor is he or she to us. We know that we are caring for a member of your family which is why our team of veterinary specialists, doctors, technicians and staff deliver an unparalleled level of specialty and 24-hour emergency care.

We appreciate your continued efforts to understand your pet’s condition and to follow the discharge instructions. This will help make a difference in your pet’s recovery and on-going quality of life. Thank you for choosing VSH.
